I agree with everything you "ranted" about. It's what I've been screaming for years. In fact, when my DoD department refused to allow me to telecommute, even though 100% of my job was on WiFi only (even sitting at the office desk!), I quit... actually, retired early. I didn't want to... I only had two years to go to retirement. But with my lupus and fibromyalgia, the time had come when I couldn't do 8 hour days, 5 days a week, and then go home and work some more on the distance lessons I was creating, validating, uploading, and testing. I only lived 5 blocks from the office, and, like I said, everything I did was on WiFi, even in the office. But I had a "butts in the seat" department head, and a manager who refused to be drawn into "conflict."

So, hubby and I sat down and cut out everything we didn't need or could live without, and the next time I tried to reason with my manager and he came with a "no"... I just said, "Cool... I quit. There's a lot of other things I want to do in my life before I die. And like some intelligent person once said, "no one died saying, 'I wish I'd spent more time in the office.' (LOL)

It hurts us financially, since my hubby retired early several years earlier when his contract ended and another wasn't forthcoming. But you know what, it's allowed us to concentrate on what's really important in life -- our fur kids, my daughter and grandsons, and most important of all, each other. We still have fun, we just have fun that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

The cost of living (inflation) is really hitting us hard right now, but we're weathering it, knowing that eventually it'll all even out.

Meanwhile, the fat cats buying back their stocks are living like kings, and getting away with every crime under the sun. Cost of living is one thing. But what I want most is JUSTICE. Justice for those like me, pushed out of our jobs because of our age and disability, and for those who are worse off than we are. I want the whole R party and everything they stand for taken down and taken out... to be repudiated and gone forever. Cruelty will no longer be the point of laws -- it'll be struck from every law on the books.
