(12,640 posts)Sandy Hook - the police responded as soon as they could.
Parkland - could be blamed on a cowardly rent-a-cop and the size of the complex.
Uvalde - we saw the police just stand around for an hour while a single asshole kid held a bunch of wounded kids and teachers (one teacher died at the hospital, one on the scene) hostage because "they didn't want to get shot".
Which in 2005, the Supreme Court said the police could do - unlike the Military, Police don't have a duty to go into what they think might be harms way to protect other people's lives. .
This is the first time the average (White) American is faced with the realization that the Social Contract is totally broken.
The Police no longer have to "Protect and Serve".
There were no checks or roadblocks to an emotionally stunted young man's ability to just gun down a group of anyone's children with a recently purchased knock-off military grade weapon because of corrupt governance, lobby money and pandering to a long-coddled loud and rabid minority base that looks like most of the people with money and power.
Yes, I'm going to speak the unspoken here. There's a lot of causations, but the three primary causes to this whole situation are
Coddling of the Gun lover's Base by encouraging the proliferation of tools of War unregulated into the general population for profit regardless of any chaos that this creates.
Pulling responsible and responsive Public Safety out of the social Contract.
Crass lack of responsibility and outright lies from supposedly "serious" elected representatives at all levels.
This is a blatant statement from current Conservative and Texas powers that be - "It doesn't matter if you pay Taxes or vote, you're not important enough to care about. You're all on your own."
