I hope you pursue it! The form is a bit intimidating, but doable. And while an individual needs to be "the sponsor" they can include others that are contributing funds. I have no clue if or how much that might delay approval of course.
One hint for those that don't speak finance: when they ask for a "bank officer's" statement about your funds, they will accept computer generated account statements. You don't actually need to try and track down a human bank officer
