Most Germans weren't Nazis but when the Nazis took power circumspect Germans remained silent about the horrors they ever-more-clearly knew were coming. They were silent accomplices who had waited too long until they had no other choice but to survive their ride on the whirlwind.

So, here's a viable equation: at any given time, circumspect citizens plus *Trumpist citizens equal 49-51% of citizens. If it requires fear and panic to remain vigilant when the wolves of fascism are at the door, then I embrace fear and panic.

In Pamplona there are two elements, those who run with the bulls and those who do not. The elements, when united, are the bull's horns. Some will dare to deny vigilance, even waving their red flags, flaunting their sense of invulnerability. Some poets call it life when others call it foolishness.
