In reply to the discussion: Go Ask Alex: Phase Two [View all]In my lifetime, I've been friends with a number of people that, in ways, might be considered outside of the "normal" school of American/western thought -- whatever the heck normal is. One was my mentor Rubin Carter, the middleweight boxer that the movie "The Hurricane" was based on. The second would be Onondaga Chief Paul Waterman. I served as his top assistant for decades. (Besides my "normal" job in mental health!) And I've been close friends with some Lakota people for many decades, and from time to time participate in ceremony with them.
