Jim Jordan is going to be head of the Judiciary Committee, and will have access to all of the information in regular investigations.
Jim Jordan, along with at least one other Republican, is a part of the 6Jan investigation (remember his phone call. IIRC, he was also mentioned as being part of it in other phone captures already obtained). Won't even go into what a scumbag he is, and the possibility of him pulling a Nunes with the information.
A SC investigation is firewalled, IIRC, from everyone to prevent political interference.

Garland did say that trump's announcing was ONE OF THE REASONS he was appointing a SC.

They couldn't question Mueller while his work was ongoing. The point of a Special Counsel

They can try. Doesn't mean he'll show up before the damage is done to their orange god.

Yeah, great... Garland should have already indicted, so I'm not impressed with CYA at this point.

Yup, until such time it's mostly horseshit, gunsmoke, lateral slide, speculation and repeat.

The cons don't care about campaigns, they are trying to grab power by any means.

We have, IMHO, only 14 months to start a trial. Once the primaries start, no chance Garland does so

I thought from the title of the OP that the other reason was an upcoming scotus vacancy...
