saw the nat lampoon production of lemmings before snl, at stony brook before the show was on. john belushi. chevy chase and jane curtin were all part of the cast. current show i find wonderful. if the sketches fall flat, the actors, sets and costumes cover for a few obtuse plot lines. the colin jost michael che news bits are delightful. truly funny people.

and snl has been there from high school to retirement. a constant of counter culture humor my entire life. it helped to enjoy my decade older sister's mad magazines from the late fifties. mad to national lampoon to snl.

Kenan Thompson has been on from 2003 to present and he's adorable and talented. 20 year run so far where most performers last 2 to 5 years.

the list above is jam packed with the best comedy performers our country has to offer.

they had my hero frank zappa on twice and loren michaels banned him for life because he broke character too much in his second appearance. (frank was repelled by the open drug use during rehersal week and gave up when his ideas were ignored.) he was both host and musical guest once, which did not happen often. john belushi did a cold open where the nbc execs scientifically determined that zappa was what American's wanted for host. they even hosted musical guest captain beefheart, zappa's high school R&B record collector buddy.
