This all raises deep thoughts about when life does begin, and it is long before conception as I see it.
'Preference' resides in consciousness. Preference precedes 'self-consciousness'.
Life and consciousness are essentially contiguous.
Consciousness is more than the self thinks.
Life precedes conception.
