If the media would talk up the NSA problems then it'd be more of an issue. I think, in fact, the trickle method used to release the NSA information has made it a slow burn, and all the outrage that was there initially faded away. It was the worst way to go about it, we saw that with Wikileaks and Cablegate which only marginally changed the way the US operates foreign-policy wise (few ambassadors were shut down, the US didn't get shunned, etc). I personally think, just a gut feeling, that the NSA release was a PSYOPS. Many will look at me and say that's stupid, but the effect, the impact, of the NSA release is marginal at best. I think the Cables had a more wide reaching effect (resulting in the Arab Spring).

Now, as far as technical problems with the website, I think these days people are far more forgiving of that sort of thing. The media, is, in fact, trying to make an issue out of it where there isn't one. Yes, they paid the wrong people to do something and they fucked it up, so what, they got paid therefore they must complete the job. If anything they'll earn what they were paid as opposed to getting paid a lot of money and hiring a few people to do the job now they'll have to take that money and actually hire professionals and lots more people to do the job.
