14. This is not new - Stockaders and Pioneer Girls

Back in the 1960s I was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout. But I was also a Stockader and my sister was a Pioneer Girl. These two groups were organized by churches of the Berean Bible Fellowship. I had an uncle that went to that church and since it was in our neighborhood we went to these youth activities. Looking back on it, it was very similar to Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, uniforms with patches, camping and camping skills, a good place for dads to spend time with their kids, etc. But every weekly meeting also had a religion segment, memorizing Bible verses, or hearing a talk by one of the adults about some Bible story.

My recollection was that the church was evangelical, but not bat shit crazy. More than half of the kids that were Stockaders were also in a scout troop, and the Stockaders leaders did not disparage the scouting program.

These groups still exist at Berean Bible Fellowship churches. Maybe the group that created Trail Life don't have the same "Christian values" as the Bereans? So many of these "Christian" organizations spend a lot of time explaining why their group are the "real" Christians and are "better" than the other affiliations.
