(62,325 posts)fact is President Obama defended, and wrongly stated the reason why he was defending, the Bush/Cheney war crime.
And people rightfully feel betrayed. That too is a fact, and all the attacks on people for expressing how they feel, isn't going to change a thing. If anything it will make people even more angry.
Will Pitt has expressed the general consensus among those who supported this president, one of the main reasons in 2008 was his own opposition to the war. Those who are focusing on his use of the term 'used car salesman' are exposing their priorities, nothing more. And it's astounding that one's political priorities are centered around trying to defend one American over the huge and serious issue of a war that killed, tortured and destroyed the lives of millions of human beings.
Leading many to wonder why it is important to them to defend one person over millions of lives. Something is wrong with that. I would not try to defend my own child if they made such an egregious error of judgement.
Sometimes it's better to just accept facts, even when they are very unpleasant, than to waste endless amounts of energy trying to defend the indefensible.
