(11,012 posts)If DU members want to suggest a change in t he rules, they should take it up with them. None of the rest of us get to make the rules.
I've been staying away from DU more and more because more than a few posters insist on telling others how they should think and post and because of the outrage when others don't. The kind of debate that ensues depresses he heck out of me.
As for supporting the Dems: I'm a registered Democrat and have been since I first registered (in order to vote against "Saint Ronnie" . I vote mostly for Democrats, but sometimes am not able to do so because there is no Dem running in the race. I did vote for an Independent for Senator last election because the Dem running didn't bother to campaign anywhere near adequately and didn't have a snowball chance in south Florida of winning. He put so little effort into it that I barely knew his name, and Charlie Crist was a much better choice than Marco Rubio. I'd do it again under the same circumstances. (By the way, Charlie changed his party affiliation to Democrat.)
I also won't vote for a candidate JUST because s/he wears a D after his/her name. S/He has to meet some criteria. If s/he is corrupt, sorry, having a D after his/her name isn't enough to get my vote. The criteria most often met and the one that most often influences my vote, though, is which is the lesser evil and that is nearly always the Dem.
