(85,977 posts). . . clearly we have several reports and accounts ongoing or ending, as well.
There will be detailed accounts emerging in the morning and I hope to find some here for DUers to take their own account of.
I did note the complaints about a certain live feed and I mostly sympathize with anyone who couldn't bear them - although, I really couldn't bear the interruption to debate those and I certainly didn't see the need to remove those links. Perhaps we can debate that at a later date. I will take those individuals off of ignore later and I hope we can have a dialogue together about them.
This evening started out with great tension on my part - became momentarily hopeful, as my posts show - and then devolved into tragedy, as far as I'm concerned.
I feel that ALL of the violence I was witness to in these live feeds was a DIRECT result of the actions and decisions of the people who decided to invoke the curfew, as well as those tasked with enforcing it.
The protestors appeared mostly peaceful, and I think accounts will bear that out. There was some firebombing reported from the area of the demonstrating crowd which, apparently started a fire with whatever it came in contact with. It was, in the character of earlier protests, reported to have been immediately extinguished by demonstrators themselves who, no doubt care deeply about their town.
I have great love for all of the humanity involved in this orchestrated crisis tonight. As I turn from this thread, I'll be looking to find another view of the outcome and will be projecting every ounce of goodwill, wishes, and hope for the safety of ALL involved; demonstrators, citizens of Ferguson, and the police, as well.
I want to thank the thoughtful and caring folks who joined me on this thread. I think your concern and participation in witnessing events in Ferguson tonight and speaking out here at DU represents the very best I have ever seen on this board in the years since I came here in 2003.
I can't thank you enough for sharing these hurtful and anguishing moments with me. Best of luck to us all, and the very best regards.
Ron.
