It convinces people to spend more money on food than they need to spend, no matter how limited their budget may be. It convinces farmers to go organic, which means they will produce less food per acre, which makes things harder on forests. It convinces other farmers to utilize older technology, even though it utilizes more pesticides and more harsh herbicides and also produces less food per acre.
In the end, it makes food insecurity worse, and that is despicable.
