Some Republicans may have retained their sanity or have become wise, BUT they are outnumbered by the Republicans' lunatic factions or lack control of the Republican Party's political machinery.
I left any affiliations with the Republican Party behind decades ago before the hard right finished cementing its control over the Texas GOP because I don't like where the Texas Republican Party was going. I felt that if I stayed in the Texas Republican Party, the most I could aspire to would be as a "useful idiot" for the Radical Right's reactionary counter-revolution.
Perhaps your Facebook friend is realizing this only now. Or perhaps she'll allow herself to be scammed again.
