(14,168 posts)Its not that Sanders is proving HE is great with the poll numbers. It is that populism can work both ways. He is proving that even single payer or $15 min wage, accepting climate change, or other progressive Democratic positions can be successful. Its about ending the defeatism of doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. And I also disagree with being rightfully critical of some of the decisions or non-decisions of the Democratic party are "mischaracterizations". We evolve. Both Hillary and Obama evolved on gay marriage. Only the GOP seems to believe they are perfect all the time. Or worse that there is some fantasy era in the past that was perfect and they want to go back to that.
"Nonsense. What's he building?"
Once again...its not about Sanders! That time I was speaking specifically about the party itself. If the Democratic Party stops being afraid of Red States, goes there, talks to them not in DINO language, but with a positive message from a charismatic speaker about the possibilities, they will come. Deans 50 state strategy worked better than anyone expected as well. Too bad the DLC and Debbie Downer dismantled that idea.
I never meant to imply that nobody else wearing a D is not helping. I would like to see him get even more support.
I guess it just seems ludicrous at how much space is spent on DU trying to disparage such an ally. An ally that also is gives his opinion on what we may have been doing wrong. The Democratic party would be foolish to ignore the advice of someone that not only shares their values, but helps to popularize those values. I just don't get it.
I would welcome Hillary to be more visible now as well. Maybe if they both appeared together again it would dissuade the animosity in here.
