it is on the receiving end. Like jokingly saying to your best friend who has a cast on their leg "Hey hurry up gimp". The person saying it doesn't realize how the one with the broken leg fills on their crutches all day long. Everyone laughs. Snarky remarks do most of the time hurt someone.
