Most people I've met (when the discussion came up), I found have little true understanding about what capitalism is, nor what a free market means. If they'd had, they would have realized that it is in essence a sophisticated form of slavery that uses debt to enslave people -- which is made from money that is created out of thin-air -- instead of chains.

Professor Wolff, whom I greatly admire, has spent a lifetime trying to cure that lack of understanding. Unfortunately, with little effect. Jefferson, Madison and many other founders knew that democracy couldn't flourish in the absence of education and knowledge.

Yet we have had little in the way of education and knowledge development among the proletariat now, or ever. Nor are we ever likely to as long as the existing system remains in-place and calling the shots. What we do have are great test-takers, but few if any are taught how to use their minds. Lest control of those minds be lost.

Education, as with all things in capitalist systems, has been valuated and commodified. They know exactly what each of our thoughts is worth and what they'll pay us for it. Which apparently is not much, if the economy is any indication. Even our own government's minimum wage indicates that they believe we deserve to live in poverty.

However, the model that is the one we should be looking at. The one we do have and that everyone innately understands and has always worked symbiotically with absolute fairness and equality, is right in front of our faces.

- Which is why we always miss it......
