He had been called to a welfare check on an elderly woman and had to call an ambulance for her. She had a small dog in her house and was worried about what would happen to it.

This cop has run into me before walking my dog late at night and would often stop and say howdy. He knew that my old boy had passed away. When this dog was in need, he thought of me. I took the dog thinking it would be temporary.

Now the old woman has gone to a nursing home, and her nephew told me she'll probably never get home again, and if she did, she would be in no shape to take care of a dog. The only reason she had a dog was because her daughter brought it to her so she would have company, though she was 88 and on oxygen and in no shape to handle a rambunctious puppy.

So now I have a dog. Finally house trained and leash trained and turning into a good pet.

Down in Otero County, I remember being so freaked out by law enforcement knocking at the door... duhneece Nov 2021 #1
