1. All I know is my sister's (in GA) trees have so overgrown that she can't get a signal any longer...

So if you have heavy "canopy" over your house, that could be an issue--generally not for newer construction or for areas like where I live in Colorado. Me, I'm stuck with comcast--because I need the DSL and a minimal tv package comes with it. Satellite internet doesn't seem to be available in many areas....

My sister did like it--when she was able to get a signal, but storms cause a lot of outages.
