I'd go with keyboard issue. Does this happen with all number keys? Just 2 and 4? The 1 seems not to be a problem. Have you entered these numbers in a document or spreadsheet? Same problem? A Google search for windows 10 calculator not working returns a bunch of repair options.

If it's software, there are a gazillion calculators available for download. Try one of these and see if the problem persists. A Google search for windows 10 calculator replacement returns an awful lot of options.

As for going online, if the issue is connectivity - no wifi, bad connection - then going online might be a pain. But if internet access is not a problem, then going online is no different than opening the calculator. Instead of clicking to open the calculator, you click to open a browser. Put your calculation in a browser address bar and hit enter. No different, really, than the app. Plus, if you're working with really large numbers, you won't encounter errors that you might on a calculator app.
