it has onions in it too and might help slide the fennel by mr beac more easily (he claims not to like fennel, but he actually does when it's cooked )

I'm visiting my fennel-loving mom & stepdad in a few weeks and might make the fennel-parm one for them. Plus, they have a Trader Joe's there and fennel is MUCH cheaper at TJ's.

Looking foward to comparing notes!
