2016 Postmortem
In reply to the discussion: Art Garfunkel Net Worth: 45 MILLION [View all]hfojvt
(37,573 posts)154. wealthy people DO have political clout
Once I got invited to a $500 per person fund raiser - for a Democrat.
That made me wonder - what kind of people can afford to give $500 to a candidate?
Not necessarily CEOs, but some fairly rich people, people making say, over $100,000 a year.
I tend to support tax increases on those kind of people. So the question is - if I am getting money from those people, am I likely to support increasing their taxes? Are they likely to keep supporting me if I do?
I think it is naive to discount the political clout of the 80th to 98th percentile. They have more income than the legendary 1%. They probably put themselves first in many ways - without even thinking about it. That's only human, after all.

So are the wealthy people who support Hillary, since she is proposing to raise taxes on the wealthy.

It's funny that you call Dimon Hillary's "bff." Just another example of how detached Bernie

It's different if you support a candidate who backs the people instead of the rich.

Getting rich as a musician isn't the same as getting rich by exploiting people.
