In reply to the discussion: Bernie Sanders: Prolific Democratic Party Fund Raiser. [View all]BainsBane
(53,031 posts)What is clear, however, is that his behavior does not comport with his claims. You've been fed a line by a politician, and you don't even care that it isn't true. That seems to be the common reaction.
It's clear that direct fundraising is just as inconsequential as super pac spending, corporate accountability (think gun corporations and Lockheed Martin), drones, single payer (the fact he himself declared it a non starter in 2009). Of course, the issue of the campaign finance system was long ago abandoned in order to present the problem as about Clinton as an individual rather than a systemic issue, even as Bernie benefits from the largest amount of Super Pac and dark money spending of any candidate of either party in this election. But now that's it's been uncovered that he directly solicited funds from representatives of the very banks he rails about, none of you care at all. That makes clear that the issue is NEVER what mattered that it significance is only as an argument to attack Clinton.
For sometime it's been clear to me that the opposition to Clinton has nothing to do with policy. The reaction to this disclosure once again confirms that.
