2016 Postmortem

(5,764 posts)This year we had:
1. Historic anti-establishment sentiment.
2. A progressive candidate with IMPECCABLE credentials fighting for everything progressives want his entire life.
3. The strongest GE matchup polling in favor of that candidate.
4. Huge draw from that candidate on independent voters that could grow the party again.
And they went full court press and pulled out every stop to box him out to make sure the walking talking personification of the right leaning status quo establishment was going to get the nomination. A candidate MORE right than the Democratic president we elected 8 years ago.... what direction are we supposed to be making "progress" in again?
Under what circumstances, EXACTLY, do you see the party backing a progressive nominee if not this year..... if we don't FORCE them to do it? (And rewarding them for screwing us this year by throwing them our support is the exact opposite of forcing them to change, it's reinforcing they can keep doing this to us).
Go ahead, tell me when and how you expect them to suddenly turn left if we keep voting for them every time they move right.
