In reply to the discussion: Liberal, not Conservative policies turned CA's $42 BILLION dollar deficit into $850 million surplus [View all]BlueCaliDem
(15,438 posts)But we can't expect miracles after fourteen disastrous Republican years, which included the energy manipulation by BushCo's buddy, Kenneth Lay, and his co-conspirators in early 2001. They had sucked out CA's projected $8 billion surplus in a matter of weeks, eventually creating a whopping $38 billion dollar deficit that Governor Gray Davis was blamed for (while it was Schwarzenegger's buddy, Duhbya, and congressional Republicans who did nothing to stop energy companies from gouging California).
The goal of my post is not to anger you. It was to inspire by showing that Democrats, under guidance of Liberals and Progressives, can turn a disaster as huge as California around while Republicans will only exacerbate said disaster. My post is meant to encourage people to vote Democratic come November 4th.
But taking such a skeptical look at California, as you appear wont to do, how would this State fair under a Republican Governor and a Republican legislature guided by the Koch Bros? Do you think we'd be better off?
