When I first downloaded it, I scanned lots of items we had in the house and was astounded at the extent to which I was funding despicable corporations. I've set my preferences to avoid GMO, anti-LGBT, ALEC members, palm oil, Nestle, Koch, etc.
Here's how they explain the app---
