But I don't agree that Biden is the only person who can beat him. And I disagree that getting rid of Trump will solve our biggest problems. It goes beyond him and there are more to come if we don't stop to the white complicity that propelled him to the WH. It starts with looking at where we have made our mistakes and facing our own part in maintaining white male supremacy.
Reparations for what white people built and continue to benefit from are long overdue and we have been going in the opposite direction since reconstruction. What we know as normal is winning at the expense of justice and by forgetting the sins of our forefathers and their successors.
I want to have a candidate who will admit flaws and failures and show some regret for them. Every time I hear a justification or denial of damage of crime bill, it is the sound of a defense of soft oppressors protecting agressors.
There is still time to show some learning, and I hope to see it but am not optimistic. I'm glad we have candidates who get it and are not afraid of hurting white men's feelings by talking seriously about racism without platitudes and referencing a romantic revision of our founding and what brought us to this moment.
