(42,862 posts)In these photos, Bernie's bruising and MASSIVE swelling looks quite serious to me. I can't believe his doctor (even a "walk-in-clinic" doctor) would have given him the all-clear to continue on as if nothing had happened.
In my opinion, it makes more sense that the doctor's instructions were to rest for a few days before resuming the rigors of the campaign. Even if the doctor wasn't a geriatric specialist, he or she should know these things... and that these types of injuries are much more serious in the elderly.
It's my belief that the patient is ignoring doctor's orders (as many do) but something like this is definitely an example of bad judgement. All I'm saying is that people should trust their doctors and follow instructions.
As we can see, this is much worse than we were being told. That's not just an ordinary bump! It looks BAD... very bad! For the swelling to be that bad, he had to have hit his head HARD!
That's what a boxer's black-eye looks like, so we're talking some SERIOUS impact. Impacts as forceful as that are very likely to cause a concussion or internal bleeding. It's just INCONCEIVABLE to me that a doctor wouldn't have recommended xrays or scans... as a "precaution".
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
