(42,862 posts)That's what happens with a "no compromise" and all-or-nothing attitude. One needs to be willing to find common ground, and make compromises, and engage in some give-and-take. One needs to have the interpersonal skills to be able to gain allies and form partnerships. One must be willing to do what's necessary to shepherd their bill through. One needs to be realistic and look at the political climate and landscape when determining and planning for what can actually be accomplished and funded.
The "shoot for the Moon" and "go for the gold" bills may look good on someone's CV... but in the end it's just a vanity effort for "bragging rights".
All I'm trying to say is that getting things done and ACTUALLY making progress requires work and cooperation. This isn't the same as naming a post office or dedicating a bridge. The successful politician is someone who lives in the REAL WORLD and knows how to WORK WITH OTHERS to make progress, and build on the successes of previous accomplishments.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
