It wasn't until Obama did well in Iowa and NH that they started shifting and he didn't really take off across the board until after Edwards dropped out ahead of TX.
When you are concerned about turning the WH, you are going to go with a known entity until you get a chance to see others in a real contest. Right now, Joe is the only Dem in the race that can claim a national resume and that's based on being the VP.

She is incredibly smart NOT to attack Biden. To do so will backfire on any who do so.
