why has this story gone down the memory hole?
I remember when this story broke, and I thought "well, conservatives are gonna go fucking apeshit when they hear about this one" but of course they gave him a pass because they are goosesteppers.

But the other day I was at work talking to a colleague about politics and we were in agreement on everything, he'd even read several books more than I had, and I mentioned this story.

He hadn't heard of it. He was shocked. Another guy who was listening to us was shocked as well and said he hadn't heard of it either.

These are very well informed people and they hadn't heard of it.

To me this is possibily THE most treasonous thing Bushco has done. I mean we're talking classic treason here.

Why has this story been forgotten?

Was it mentioned in F911? (I haven't seen it yet) I hope so!

War Plan Shared With Saudi Ambassador Before Powell.

“One of the key players that had to be notified and brought along was Saudi Arabia. U.S. forces would have to be sent through and from Saudi territory into Iraq. Rescue, communications and refueling support were not going to be enough. Of the five other countries on Iraq's border, only Kuwait and Jordan supported a military operation. The 500 miles of Saudi-Iraqi border were critical. So on Saturday, Jan. 11, Cheney invited Prince Bandar bin Sultan, the Saudi ambassador, to his West Wing office. Rumsfeld and Gen. Richard B. Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, were also there.” Cheney, General Myers, and Rumsfeld described the plan of attack in Iraq with the Ambassador, and allowed him to take notes about a map they presented. The may was labeled: TOP SECRET NOFORN, which means it was classified material not to be seen by any foreign nation. Prince Bandar said he would have to tell Crown Prince Abdullah that he had gotten the message from Bush himself. So they arranged a meeting with Bush, Rice, and Prince Bandar in which Bush said he supported everything Cheney had told Bandar. After that meeting, Rice said Bush should inform Powell about his plan to invade Iraq, since Powell was friends with Bandar and could find out through him. After the warning from Rice, Bush met with Powell and informed him of his decision and asked for Powell’s support.”

2. The problem with this and all the Bush acts of treson stories is that
The so called free, liberal media, does not report the truth on Bush. They...CNN NBC etc. are a bunch of cowards, in bed with the Administration of satan.

3. well this was actually in the news for about two hours
but with the flood of scandals pumped out by this administration it got lost in the shuffle.

Now seems like a good time to bring it back out.

I seriously thought this is the story which would make the conservatives finally dump him.

4. Powell's a Stiff
Powell has been in over his head since his first day in office. When important news breaks, he's copied on the memo that goes out to the important people. It makes him feel good.

5. It is still out there in Woodward's Plan of Attack book but
as many other items dropped off the media radar screen conveniently.

7. I remember this story......unfortunately it isn't in the film...
There are a lot of things that aren't in the film. Perhaps if everything was, the film would be 4-6 hours long...heck, it might have needed to become a mini series. There's just sooooo much wrong with this administration and it's forebears.

IMO, there is just enough stuff in the film to get "uninformed" people something to think about--perhaps even jump start them to do some of their own research. I would have added more/different things and left a few other things out...but that's just me.

Good catch..

8. I remember this story from Woodward's book
I have a theory, for what it's worth. The story hurts * but it also hurts Powell, pretty bad, because it shows him as very much out of the loop. Powell is well liked by both sides as well as the Washington media. He could have actively tried to squelch it, or the media could have dropped it on its own.

It's the way Washington seems to work a lot of times.

12. Rumsfeld deliberately confused the issue
by referring to the exchange as "some banter". When asked specifically whether the "banter" was with "Bandar", he replied, "well, the President was on a bender, and Dick Cheney was in the oval office listening to Pat Benatar, so due to the bender and the Benatar we cannot confirm that the banter involved Bandar"
