| Is the GOP ashamed of being primarily comprised of white christians? |
|
Why so defensive about a pretty obvious statement of fact? Maybe those white christians should be in a party that's ashamed to have them?

for the Republicans I know. Afterall, the GOP is no longer fiscally conservative or concerned with states' rights. So, what's left? Bigotry and religion. Always a motivator at the polls.

is that, secretly, they're smiling. Republicans always like the Big Outrage. But, privately, they're going "Oh, Yeah!" More recruits! Thank you very much, Mr. Dean!

Does primarily mean majority? Or did you mean "White Christians", which is very different from white christians?

"America was founded by Christians!", but we're a big tent party.
"Homosexuality is an abomination to God!", but we're a big tent party.
"The poor are poor because they're lazy!", but we're a big tent party.
"Islam is a lie!", but we're a big tent party.
"Feminazi!", but we're a big tent party.
They will never admit it but the absolute soul of the Republican party is still a rich WASP. They rely on picking of the scragglers from other groups by using wedge issues.

to protect their slave labor. Heh, they even convinced the working poor to do their fighting for them. Doing it again only the party(same general thinking) has spred beyond the south.
I'm convinced that the civil war never ended and the south is winning.

| 14. No, they're angry at being caught as bigoted insular zealots |
|
They have no shame. They just hate being identified as what they are.
They don't like being called out as parasitic users of society, and they shriek "class warfare" whenever they are. They don't like being called racists as they drive wedges between the elements of the working class. The extremist Christians HATE having it reminded that they view all others as inferior, damned, ugly, subhuman and not deserving of societal protections. Xenophobes hate being called selfish assholes.
Mercifully, Christianity is more tolerant of those of other faiths than Islam is, but if that's not being damned by faint praise, I don't know what is. Many of those who follow the teachings of Jesus are very understanding and inclusive; as such, they realize that they don't have all the answers. Realizing that one doesn't totally understand the universe is something that fundamentalists can't or won't do; those who accept the limited understanding that is the reality of life (yet still identify themselves as Christians) have a name: they're liberals. As such, they're my brothers and sisters.
Dean has done a good thing here: he's pointed out the deliberate divisiveness of the current inquisition, and he's backing off to allow them to dig themselves deeper with their protests.

| 15. Laura Ingraham Said So The Other Day |
|
That white people who vote Republican are regular people:INGRAHAM: Well, I think it's interesting that people like Zuckerman would be saying this now, coming off of an election where President Bush was elected with middle-class support, Bill , from about $23,000 to about $50,000 bracket for annual salary. Bush won by six points in all Americans and 22 points in white middle-class voters. So the Republicans are clearly connecting with the regular people, where the Democrats aren't.

Unfairly but truthfully, our party has been tagged as being against things. Anti-immigrant, for example. And we're not a party of anti-immigrants. Quite the opposite. We're a party that welcomes people. 7/1
