Dean: More Fighting Words In Boston!
From Sludge:

DEAN PROMISES 'IN-YOUR-FACE' RESPONSE TO GOP
Mon Jun 20 2005 22:18:01 ET

In a defiant speech at a party fund-raiser in Boston, Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean vowed Monday to continue his fiery critiques of the Republican Party and followed up with a pointed jab at Vice President Dick Cheney.

Fresh editions of the BOSTON GLOBE report: "We are going to be much tougher and in-your-face with the Republicans when they say things that aren't true," Dean said in an apparent response to criticism outside and inside the Democratic Party that he is using over-the-top language to rally his party.

Dean also responded directly to Cheney, who last week said of Dean, "Maybe his mother loved him, but I've never met anybody who does." "I don't care if Dick Cheney likes my mother or not, we are going to fight back," Dean told a boisterous crowd of about 300 Democrats at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel. "I think it's great that Dick Cheney went after me. At least they know there's a Democratic party that's not going to put up with this stuff anymore."

He added: "As the head of the Democratic Party, I will not be lectured about morals by Tom DeLay and Rush Limbaugh," referring to the House Majority Leader and the prominent conservative radio host.

3. Ya. Really Loved His Comments Against The Iraq Occupation
Edited on Mon Jun-20-05 09:34 PM by Itsthetruth
Any chance Dean will be speaking out against Bush's Iraq occupation in the next few days ..... months .... perhaps years?

More hot air and empty rhetoric that has nothing to do with the real issues people are concerned about.

45. Dean on Iraq
We were presented with a series of facts. I came to a different conclusion than the senators did on those facts. My conclusion was that there was no Al Qaida in Iraq, as the president intimated. My conclusion was that Iraq was not about to acquire nuclear weapons, as the president intimated. My conclusion was that we'd successfully contained Saddam Hussein. ... I was able to sort out that the president was not being candid with the American people.

http://www.issues2000.org/2004/Howard_Dean_War_+_Peace.htm

Q: You said after Saddam Hussein was captured, that he could have been captured six months ago. Were you saying that our soldiers weren't working hard enough?

DEAN: Of course not. Our military has done an absolutely terrific job in Afghanistan, which is a war I supported, and in Iraq, where I did not support the policy but I always support the troops. I believe that, had Saddam been captured earlier, we might have been able to spend more time looking for Osama bin Laden, which is the real problem.

Plenty more where than came from!

Edited on Mon Jun-20-05 09:37 PM by goclark

Take no prisoners!!!

That is the only way that you can deal with a bully. I am so glad he is on our side because he is one tough guy. He came out against the WAR and led the pack, he pushed the candidates to say what they knew to be true.

You're our Harry Truman.

And now he supports the Iraq occupation and wished Bush success with his war policy.

Why the change?

...every lying snake-in-the-grass Scumpublican will say that Howard Dean does not... support... the TROOPS!

Look what they did with Durbin!

22. He should wish him failure?
Unfortunatly, Bush's failure is our failure. Wishing for the worst is not an option. Wishing for the worst really is being against the troops and the people of Iraq.

31. Yes, we should
We should wish for the Bush project of establishing a permanent military presence there to fail.

Now if you want to redefine success as leaving a reasonably representative governmen there after we leave, that's a whole different ball of wax.

52. The publically accepted version of success
is what Howard is talking about. The public accepts 'being able to leave a stable Iraq' as success. Howard isn't saying he supports a permanent occupation, and I don't think anyone thinks that is what he is saying.

8. Darth Cheney said this, mentioning Dean's mother:
"I've never been able to understand his appeal. Maybe his mother loved him, but I've never met anybody who does. He's never won anything, as best I can tell," Cheney said in an interview to be aired Monday on Fox News Channel's "Hannity & Colmes."

15. It's probably true because Cheney is such a coward...
...that he won't face people who might disagree with him.

And from a psychological perspective much of Cheney's behavior and rhetoric might be explained by the lack of love from his mother.

I can't really blame the poor woman.

19. GO HOWARD!
Nice to see somebody getting it right. Howard seems to be the only guy who recognizes the dangers of appeasing these people. It would be nice if the rest of the party would rally around him, because if they don't he could wind up falling flat on his face. I get the feeling alot of the party want to see that happen, and I don't understand why. Obviously the media is trying to bury him, but I think Howard is going to start connecting where he needs to. He seems like he has the right plan, and is in the right place at the right time. All he needs is the support.
