Dems-It's time to filibuster EVERYTHING!!!! |
|
The Republicans march in lockstep with the White House on everything. They usually get support from Lieberman and his fellow DLCer's. We're about to get CAFTA shoved down our throats. We've got an energy bill that gives oil companies and utilities billions in tax breaks at a time of record profits.
Bush is about to give John Bolton a recess appointment. But even worse, the Senate is giving up it's authority to advise and consent. The White House refuses to turn over documents in the Plame case, Abu Gharib, the Bolton nomination, and now the Roberts nomination. This guy even lied about being a member of the Federalist Society. And if you want to know what he's trying to hide, visit www.fed-soc.org . Do a little digging in their working groups.
Harry Reid threatened to bring the Senate to a crawl if Frist invoked the Nuclear Option. Nothing destroys your credibility like an idle threat. I know that when Gingrich, Armey, and DeLay shut down the Gov't, it backfired on them. But it's different this time. Criminals and Fascists are in control now, and democracy is at stake.
Start calling and writing your Congressmen and Senators now.

2. You realize nuclear option doesn't HAVE to be just for nominations, right? |

But, the Puke's would be seriously overplaying their hand, and risk a major backlash, if they did do it. They're only a year away from losing control of the Senate.

4. Disagree strongly on abusing the filibuster |
|
It was never meant to be used in the manner you are suggesting... sorry, I can't get on that bandwagon for any reason.

5. So, you're willing to allow the Puke's |
|
to run roughshod over the constitution, bankrupt the country, legislate a theocracy, and not use the ONLY tool we have at our disposal.
Remember back in the '90s when Clinton tried to regulate the securities industry, a move that would have prevented Enron, Worldcom, etc., the Republicans filibustered every move.
Extraordinary crimes call for extraordinary measures.

7. If they have the votes, then YES. |
|
The filibuster is only supposed to be used in extreme situations. If you're really tired of Republican policies, then *replace* them in elections! Abusing the filibuster won't get anyone anywhere.
Note that history will record what the Republicans did, and there's no way they can deny the damage they have done. If they have the votes, they control policy. Sorry, but that's your reality pill for the day.
