A quick note on O'Reilly threat and other "smear sites." |
|
I don't know if billyboy's website upon which he has threatened to "name names" is part of the Fox website, but it it's not, you have an alternative way to get his site (and any other "smear sites") shut down by their hosting company.
Even through it's fairly easy and reasonably well-known (not to mention entirely aboveboard, legal, and not rocket science), I'd rather not detail the procedure here; why give the trolls anything for free? Especially because it's so effective...groups of DUers have gotten together to do this before.
If you don't know how to go about doing it (I suspect that many of you do), send me a PM and I'll get back to you with the step-by-step details.
I'm not supposed to be typing very much, so I'll reply to the PMs in batches tonight (and each night for the next couple of days if this thread stays kicked).
Feel free to keep kicked if you think it should be.

1. If the tactic of getting websites legally shut down is used |
|
by our side, it will be used more by their side, too.
I'd prefer if that sort of thing stays rare.

I can suspect the sorts of tactics we might use; I can't see much good coming of them. Bryant Check it out --> http://politicalcomment.blogspot.com

9. NO, NO, NO, I'm not talking about that!! |
|
I am NOT trying to tell you that there's a way to get a site shut down just because you don't like it! (Nor would I advocate that if it were possible.)
I'm talking about sites that incite harassment and / or other illegal acts.
Jeez.

11. Gosh it was totally unreasonable of us to jump to that conclusion |

Particularly after this paragraph.

I apologize.

4. Yep...Those Sure Are Benefits |
|
Ms. Rowe needs a bit of education regarding the way they communicate to the public and the benefits associating with a fear and hate monger like O'Reilly really means.
Sounds like they want the Faux viewer's money and could care less what is said or how they're reached. They don't endorse the "beliefs"...but by sponsoring they are endorsing the entire concept of divide and conquer and the McCarthyite tactics O'Reilly relishes (or is that falafels).
Fortunately this is one product that will never see any of my money...and hopefully others have noted it as well.

13. Look Who They're Marketing To |
|
People who need a cheap replacement bed...LOL. Most are middle-aged males who are sitting on their La-Z Boys and like the idea of a cheap bed that enables them to do something they no longer can do naturally...touch their toes to put on their shoes.
These predators see the 2.5 million viewers and figure they can find a fish or ten in that audience...but then look at the general "clientele" of Faux. A couple weeks ago I tried to stomache and hour to see who was advertising (especially the off-peak hours) and it was all "white male" stuff...get rich quick brokers, SUV dealers, sports bars and Repugnican politicians (I'm already seeing '06 primary spots...LOL). Considering this is my "demo", I feel like I'm from another planet. Excuse now while I take a shower...LOL.
Cheers...

19. Start Me Up!...Please...LOL! |
|
I just picked up the new Stones album...has Keith figured out another guitar lick since Mixed Emotions?
Honestly, it's great to see them touring, but they scare the crap out of me. I remember when Satisfaction was a current hit and first seeing them in 1968...eeek. LOL.
Well, didn't Mastercard sign a big deal with the Stones promoting the tour? Mick never misses a chance to make an extra buck. LOL. But then I see Paul's doing the same thing.
Many days I wonder how John Lennon would view the times we're in.
Cheers...

20. Couch Potato Material |
|
We have a locally made adjustable and we spent a lot more than $1500...good ones can cost $5gs or more. If you've got the coin, a good night's sleep is worth the money.
These are marketed on installments...the pitch isn't the $1500 (and my bets are you'd pay even more), it's the "simple" $59.99 a month or whatever payment game they play (throwing in 13% interest). It's easy for the couch potato who can't be bothered with going to a store or price comparing...and that seems to keep these companies going and growing.

21. Tempur-Pedic isn't an adjustable bed. |
|
It's a memory foam mattress. It can be purchased at local mattress dealers that also sell Sealy, etc.
It's a high end mattress, nothing more. Where you got the idea that it's an adjustable bed is beyond me.
You really should check into what you're talking about before you talk about it.
