Any DUers Energy Self-Sufficient? Care to share your story...? |
|
Thinking of trying to get as completely energy self-sufficient as possible.
I'd like to hear about other peoples experiences with this.
TIA

2. Not totally Self-Sufficient, but, |

I was able to move to the country and buy the house out right and the property has a natural gas well which runs the house and has enough pressure for a genny (which I don't have yet)and to heat greenhouses etc.

4. I'm almost, but not by choice... |
|
since the power company disconnected my power. They want almost $1.5k to turn it back on! I'll never be able to afford that. I miss having my computer and dial-up account the most, but I guess I'll be ok with posting at work on the shared computer that has Internet access. Now I'm heating my house and water (by the kettle) with wood. Since I don't own a chainsaw, I'm only using wood that's already been downed naturally. I think I'll run-out of that in a couple of months, so I'll have to trade my computer or something else for a chainsaw. I'm still eating corn & green beans that I grew. I am so tired of having them every meal. My best meal is breakfast. I eat two eggs each morning. I cut my neighbor's grass and do other odd jobs in exchange for the eggs. The only good part is that it's easy to be a vegetarian when you can't afford any type of meat.
