Will I never learn---Reality can be so disappointing |
|
Before Christmas I was looking through a Harry & David's catalog salivating over the pictures. I love Pears--they are absolutely my favorite winter time fruit. I was whining playfully that no body loves us enough to send us the Huge Perfect Pears.
Today I got the Pears---Yes, my husband is a sweetie--but---I have to say I don't think the pears look that great. Certainly, they are no better than I can do in my up-scale market here.
I had imagined these pears to be the size of a small baby's head, with perfect skin and creamy juice just waiting to burst from their sinful ripeness.
Reality can be so disappointing

2. Quick! Eat them so you can go back to the wonderful delicious anticipation |
|
of them. There's no perfection quite like what we hold in our imagination.

Email them to H&D. Maybe they'll refund you. They are usually very good to do business with. I know that doesn't take the place of a yummy piece of fruit, but I would be upset paying top dollar for second quality.

are delicious! So soft you can break the skin w/a spoon. And sooooo sweet! I'm sorry if you got a raw deal, but I've had em before and I LOVE THEM :loveya:
Almost bought myself a gift this year just so I could eat em.
on edit: Just saw on the news that H&D is all american - the plant and 90% of the fruit (some come from out of country but most they grow right here)

7. Reailty is so OFTEN a disappointment. Like going to a fine restaurant |
|
and having the food only being mediocre.... It's the reason I learned to cook. So I could indeed please myself.

10. I respectfully disagree |

I still remember some H&D apples, pears and oranges I got as a gift in 1987. The boxes were useful in my sewing room for years, too.
