Keira Knightly as Elizabeth Bennet? |
|
Edited on Sun Jan-30-05 01:55 AM by Flaxbee
Anyone who has seen and is a fan of A&E's "Pride and Prejudice" with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle as Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet will know that it was a terrific miniseries, very difficult to top. But, it is being remade again, and two excellent actresses are in it -Brenda Blethyn (as Mrs. Bennet) and Judi Dench (as Lady Catherine de Bourgh) but Keira Knightly as Elizabeth? It just doesn't fit. She was OK in Pirates and way too precious in Love Actually. Hmm. Maybe I'm prejudiced already.
I don't recognize any of the male leads. Well, other than Donald Sutherland as Mr. Bennet. Looks like a strictly English production.

1. It will be extremely difficult to top the A&E version, IMHO. |

I can't think about the book, one of my favorites, without seeing the A&E version in my head.
Obviously, I'll go, but I don't see that piquant quality in Keira Knightley's characters. And Ms. Knightley does not have the figure of Ms. Ehle, either.

2. I know, Keira is a stick |

and Ms. Ehle had a lovely figure. She's also about a decade younger than the woman playing Jane, I think...
Oh well, the rest of the cast is more than enough reason for me to go see it.
