The funny thing is my Mom was a twin and my cousin had 3 sets of twins.
I wanted kids real bad that's why I had the gastric bypass surgery but it messed me up.

I don't want kids. :D
Fortunately, neither does the woman I am spending my life with.
:bounce:
EDIT: And even if I wanted kids, adoption is always an option, as Xithras pointed out.

...ought to be able to under any circumstances. Even with the child bearing problems.
I couldn't imagine being so selfish.

14. I don't think fertility ever enters into the question for me |
|
If it does, it's so far down the list that I don't even notice it. Of course, that could be because I take fertility for granted. But now that I think about it, infertility wouldn't bother me one bit.
Of course there will be that urge to procreate, but that can be fulfilled through adoption. I'd like to think of myself as one who doesn't actually have to had made the kid to be a fulfilled parent.

Any man that didn't want a woman as a wife simply because she could not have children does not deserve to be married. I'm not sure if you're speaking of your situation, but if he is so selfish, that he MUST pass on his genetic material to another even more over-crowded generation then you're better off without him. I understand wanting to have children but I can't understand a guy not wanting someone just because she can't bear his child.

59. I think that the issue harkens back to our genetic ancestry. Pre-eminent |
|
Edited on Mon Nov-03-03 10:03 PM by radwriter0555
in our genetic code is the urge, need, will to propegate. By and large men's urges surround the NEED to propegate or in the very least, to make a big show of it.
I can't have any more kids. I have one, and had several subsequent miscarriages. I stopped dating one fellow because I knew that we shouldn't get too involved; we're still friends, and I knew that he was really really interested in having kids. I didn't think it was fair to keep him from accomplishing that. I was right in my decision. He got married last summer and they're trying to get preggers. I'm glad I didn't hold him back.
So..... I don't date younger guys, because it isn't fair to THEM. I just don't WANT anymore kids these days unless I'm filthy rich and can have a nanny for when I want to be selfish and have time for myself.
I can't stand most older fellas, all wrinkley and saggy and hair starting to grow from odd orifices...
And chicks don't turn me on.
So, I don't date, since I can't really have what I want, which is the younger, hot stud dudes, and don't want to be unfair to fellas who could/should otherwise follow the need to propegate. Because ultimately, he would leave to do so, no matter how strong the wish not to... I don't want to get dumped, and pre-empt it by not getting involved at all.

But that's just me. I understand how people could feel either way about it.
If after marrying, I found out that we couldn't have kids........I'd have to think long and hard about it.
Fortunately for us, that's not the case.

34. I don't want any kids |
|
Not that I don't like kids, but I just don't believe it would be the right thing for me to bring a child into this world. So for me, the question would be more like "Do you care for this person enough to make a lifetime commitment to her?"
Marriage is another story. There is nothing in the posession of living beings on this earth that we cannot screw up with laws. And what do they do with the old laws? Most of them are still around, in some dusty book somewhere, waiting to be taken out and subverted by crooked shysters and repugs.

My second wife couldn't have any more kids (thank Random Chance for THAT! no TIES!) And I've been with women who weren't fertile. so they're "sports models" Big Deal.
Geez, this isn't the 1880's, you know, I don't think men pick women based on how many "farmhands" they think they're capable of popping out anymore...
Well, those "Be Fruitful" Promise-Keepers might....

If we decided to have a kid or two, and she was unable, adoption is always an option. I stressed the word "we" because I'd love a son or a daughter, but I don't feel like my life would be incomplete without a child.
Being unable to physically have a kid is not a deal-breaker. I feel sorry for the folks who think it is.

...and after reading all your posts, its refreshing to hear that you would put your love for her first. I think a lot of the anxiety surrounding procreation lies with the women. I guess some of us have "maternal impulses" ingrained in our biology that we can't ignore. I have an idea for the counter question to this topic...

Aside from obviously not wanting childen, is it so he can be free to be promiscuous, or that he doesn't want a women to change his mind about having children? It seems like such a drastic, extreme thing to do!

once they are happily married and have children. That was true in my case. It is a simple procedure that takes about 15 minutes and in my opinion is preferrable to birth control pills or for a woman to have her tubes tied.

If the man wants a family, adoption is always a possibility, or surrogate mother, if he feels the child must be genetically his.
Or, he may be divorced with kids, and not want any more.
Or, although he wants to get married, kids are not his thing, and he knows it.
