Poll question: Robb's long, long grudge came due today... Suggestions? |
|
OK, so in April of 2004, as I was bottoming out from the realization that my marriage to what turned out to be a cheatin' cheaty cheat-cheat was coming to an end, I felt overwhelmed with a desire to do something to "get her back."
Which, some small part of my brain realized at the time, was nonsense thinking, wouldn't help me, etc. etc. etc.
My solution then to stop thinking about such things and get on with my life was to flip waaaaaaay forward in my planner, and write these words on a distant date:
"Get (Ex-Mrs. Robb) back today."
:D
And it worked.
But lo, this morning my rather well-adjusted and recovered mind spied this note. I have utterly moved on, but I caught myself thinking about it. My naturally justice-minded self (read: cop brain) concocted various schemes to inflict emotional damage upon the Ex-Mrs. Robb.
So, my dear DUers, what would you do? More importantly, what do you suggest I do?

1. Move on with your life |
|
and get a girlfriend WAY hotter than Ms X and have fantasies about Ms X seeing you with this other woman and it totally breaking her spirit, but don't let the fantasies get in the way of a deep and emotionally satisfying relationship with the new girlfriend, because Ms X will be EXTRA broken in spirit if she sees you happily in love with someone WAY hotter.

- gf hotter, check - ex's spirit broken from sighting months ago, check - deep and emotionally satisfying relationship, double check
But the planner, the PLANNER!! :D I put it in there to forget about it, because if it's in the planner I don't think about it because I'll find it later ... but by the same token, if it's in there, don't I have to honor that relationship and perform said tasks if written? :D

I dunno what you can do that would be better revenge than just letting the bitch think you've totally forgotten about her...

Rent the nicest red convertible exotic sports car you can afford, plus an "escort" of impeccable quality, and drive by her house honking the horn.

go to her house with a gun, break a window, and threaten to kill either or both of you.
There! That'll show her FAR better than ignoring her!

since you feel the need to keep faith with your planner and how you use it; you should act, since it's the day for you to do so.
Toss of a short note to the ex, and tell her how much happier you are now, how much more pleasnat current GF is, and end it with a cheery, 'thanks for helping to make my life so much better by removing yourself from it. May you rot in hell. love, Robb'

via regular mail. It will be quite smelly and rotten when it arrives and there is no law that says you can't.

22. Fill her car with wadded up newspapers... |
|
Send in 12 subscriptiion cards to magazines you know she doesn't like, such as "Monster Truck Monthly" or "Tattoos and Piercings Quarterly".
And go to a novelty store purchase one of those "Venereal Disease Test Results Enclosed" envelopes from the prank card aisle, and send it to her at work.
Or sumpin' like that.

23. The best revenge against someone who seeks attention/gratification... |
|
Edited on Fri Aug-05-05 11:14 AM by youspeakmylanguage
...is to ignore them entirely and move on with your life. If you have to communicate at all, communicate in very subtle ways how utterly meaningless they are to you.
It works horrifying wonders on the right (or wrong, depending on your perspective) type of person.
I have had friends and significant others in the past screw me over or do me wrong. I responded by shutting them out completely (no communication at all) and moving on with my life. The ones that were self-confident enough not to depend on friendship didn't seem that bothered by the lack of further attention, but it drove others crazy, which was the opposite effect I think they were looking for.

25. Buy a book by George Hayduke. |
|
That way, even if you decide NOT to go through with your vengeful desires, you can read the REALLY GREAT stories about successful revenge scenarios people have concocted. And LAUGH your ass off! :D
I found his books to be very therapeutic when I was going through your situation back in the early 90s.
Good luck! FSC

Obliterate the reference in your planner. Obviously this only works if you're a Luddite with a paper planner. If you've made the entry in your electronic planner, check off the task as done. You have gotten back at her by reclaiming your life. No other revenge would be as sweet.
Rumor has it you're still a dingbat. :silly:

mark it as complete and forget it. On the other hand, if you still want to mess with her you could call and have her utilities shut off, send her father subscriptions to gay magazines, cancel her credit cards, car insurance etc etc etc...
