Ugggh. Let's Say You Had This ADD Friend ... |
|
Edited on Sun Oct-22-06 01:49 PM by Crisco
Who had a habit of making plans with you, but often bailed due to other stuff they forgot about while they were making said plans.
Let's say said friend did something like that on your birthday, you got pissed and flounced out of the room, which made them feel miserable for being a jerk, and later you smoothed things over.
Let's say said friend invited (two weeks later) you to attend a third friend's birthday with them, and asked you for advice on what type of gift they should pick up. And before stopping to think, you, playfully, said "Hey, wait a minute ..." and they felt like a jerk all over again which really wasn't your intention (although it was awfully insensitive of them to ask in the first place).
Please advise ...

1. I have learned to just have " patience". |
|
But I would'nt let them use their ADD as an excuse - a friend of mine and I went through similiar problems two weeks ago.

2. This Someone Is Undiagnosed |

Which doesn't help. But he has all of the signs I've seen in others.

3. My friend is also Bi-polar. |
|
And sometimes I just have to talk to him and take it easy the way I would want someone to do with me.

6. I'm surrounded by this sort of person. |
|
I learned to not take it personally and love them JUST AS THEY ARE. It took me a while to not be hurt by the seeming inconsiderateness. Now I know it's just the way it is. I have some of the traits myself and have dropped the ball a few times too, so I guess that made it easier! :)

But also feel like if I can't say "ouch!" every now and then, all I'm going to get is beat up.
