Do you ever focus on the state of mind between consciousness and sleep? |
|
Do you find it as restful as sleep?

1. My dear GoddessOfGuinness... |
|
I have thought about this state too...
And I don't think it's quite as restful as deep sleep.....
After all, you are still a little bit conscious...
Deep sleep is nearly effortless, too!
I think anytime you're awake, it takes effort...

2. Eventually I give in to sleep... |
|
But it's pleasant being alert in that quasi-dream state.

4. So would you define meditation |
|
as the state between consciousness and sleep?
I've always thought of it as immersion in the moment...

5. I think of immersion in the moment as a sort of |
|
mindfulness. Or just as you described - being in the moment, fully present. It can lead to a meditative state, but doesn't necessarily.
I don't know biologically what's going on with meditation; I'm not conscious, but not asleep. Perhaps a different kind of consciousness is the way I'd describe it. :)

It's very much the same kind of consciousness as in meditation for me, and is as relaxing to me as sleep, especially after a stressful day..
