Does anyone really believe "can't stop believing" is the most requested song? |
|
I usually love Sirius, I have had it for more than a year but the last few days I have been going out of my fucking mind as they are playing Journey atleast once every forty five minutes.
They are doing this on practically every channel. The only channel I listen to I have not heard Journey on is Sirius 22.
Journey Again!
It is bad enough that they play the hip-hop drive-by's on the english language every ten minutes "Drank", "Thurd", "Way I Are"
And they aren't just playing "can't stop believing" they are playing other Journey songs!
I hated Journey 25 years ago!
Everyone is going to miss Tony, but can't we honor him in another way?

2. You know what's really funny? |
|
No one seems to know what the title is! They think the song is "Don't Stop Believing." Wrong! The actual title is "Don't Stop--Be Leaving!"

...and the song sucks. It sucked when it came out and it hasn't improved with time.
BTW, I've never heard Journey on Sirius 32.
Cheers

5. It sounds like a good time to create a Sirius/Journey drinking game. |

Don't Stop Believing = 1 sip Separate Ways (worlds apart) = 2 sips Faithfully or Open Arms = cry in your drink Steve Perry Solo Song = chug
Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin' = alcohol+narcotic assisted suicide

6. Steve Perry fills his time these days by calling in to request the song. |
|
It's the only possible explanation.

9. Steve Perry could pick up and |
|
go on the road anytime he wants. I heard him on some movie soundtrack, and on someones background vocals recently... he's still got it.

10. Steve Perry's still got it, and we can all thank Christ... |
|
...that lately he's had the simple human decency to keep it to himself.

11. Hehe....not a Perry fan, I guess? |
|
Being a voice teacher, I look at it from an academic point of view - to do what he does, for as long as he's been doing it, is a rare vocal feat.

It's kind of like a 40 year old pitcher still throwing fastballs in the mid to high 90's.
Certainly two guys I like have lost some of the upper end of their range as they've aged. (Robert Plant and Jon Anderson)
Thank goodness chops aren't necessary for a sublime musical performance. (Sometimes they even get in the way of one.)

Perry still sings that high C crystal clear.
I've heard Billy Joel say that when he wrote his songs, he wasn't thinking of a 50 year old Billy Joel still singing them - if he were, he would have pitched them lower.

I wouldn't normally like the song, but with the fact that it's so catchy and so intertwined with The Sopranos now, I might have to download it.
