Have any of you witnessed a Perfect Game? or even a No-Hitter? |
|
Edited on Sat Apr-25-09 09:37 PM by charlie and algernon
If not, any no-hitter or perfect game go late into the game?
Me, I haven't come close yet. Saw no-hitters go into the 4th or 5th, but that's it.
I mean been there in person, I saw Buchholz's and Lester's no-hitters on TV, but never saw one live in person.

1. I saw Kerry Wood, in what should have been a no-hitter... |
|
...the game where he went apeshit and struck out (I think) 20 batters. The one hit really should have been an error.

4-0, but games like that take on an excitement of their own.
Wasdin is a hell of a nice guy too. He's the very definition of a journeyman.

3. No, but I saw Tom Seaver strike out 10 consecutive San Diego Padres |
|
in 1970, a record that still stands. If my memory serves me right, it was the last 10 batters he faced in a complete game.

I wish I had been around to see the legends pitch. The best I've gotten is Randy Johnson on the downside of his career, when he was on the Yankees.

used to walk to Shea Stadium as a kid. To this day my all time favorite sports event is the '69 Mets. That was even greater than the Giants' super bowls.

9. YES, and by pure luck! |
|
We were vacationing in Tucson back in '99 and drove up to PHX to see the Cards play the D-backs one night. As luck would have it, the Big Unit was on the mound for AZ. He was facing a rookie by the name of José Jiménez. Both pitchers had no-hitters going into the 5th inning. Johnson gave up a walk and a double (2 hits in all), but Jiménez pitched a no-no and won 1-0. I also just happened to score the game in a souvenir program, too :woohoo:

statistically as rare as a perfect game (and no, it wasn't a republican making sense)...a walk-off grand slam while down by three runs...Ellis Burton of the Cubs vs. the Houston Colt 45's in 1965 (in a crucial battle for sole possession of 9th place ). But still pretty darn cool to see. I think this has happened approximately 15 times in MLB history.

18. tee hee i played in a perfect game |
|
i had 87 of diamonds, limped in under the gun, blah de blah, by the time it gets back to me it's 3 bet so i'm faced with a choice, i can fold (the standard play) or 4 bet, i four bet, the 3 better 5 bets, it's capped with 5 or 6 players, wheeee, i flop the straight
you don't get any more perfect than that, right?????

19. No but I saw an inside-the-park HR |
|
The crowd was the most nuts I ever saw a stadium go. Tommy Agee for the White Sox way back in the 60's.
A couple of throws were like behind him, but not really errors. He was pretty fast.

20. I watched Nolan Ryan give up a hit in the 1st and no-no the rest. Struck out 16, too, |
|
Won the game, 1-0. IIRC, the run was on a Steve Buechelle homer.
That's the closest.
