My relatives want me to come to Texas to visit......should I go? |
|
They live in League City, frequently go to Galveston, etc. I have been west, but never to Texas, and I'm not sure I want to go.
What do you think?

I can't help here, since there isn't enough information...
Have you met them before? If so, how did you get along? Do you have anything in common? What are their motives in wanting you to visit?
And so on...
I'd say GO, just because I like to travel and meet people...
But...if these folks are crazy, well then, don't go.

3. Houston and Galveston are okay. Drive over to Austin or San Antonio, and it's a definite yes. |
|
Houston's a big city with a lot to do. Galveston used to be fun--I haven't been since the hurricane. Nothing impressive about the beach there unless you are landlocked and just need to see a beach.
San Antonio is one of the most unique cities in the country, though. Well worth a visit. Austin is just Austin. It's weird, beautiful, liberal, quirky, and a little more full of itself than it should be, maybe, but still worth it. Always something unusual happening here.
Fort Worth is probably the hidden gem of Texas, but it's four hours from where you'll be.

4. Galveston has a crummy beach. |
|
There is a LOT to do in Houston.
I take visitors to the Beer Can House and The Orange Show and The Art Car Museum, for funky folk art.

5. Well, despite those places, it still is a fun city. |

Beer Can House?
A crummy beach beats no beach any day of the week.

11. Yeah, we don't have much of a beach in Reading, PA..... |
|
They are my baby sister and her husband, my Tex Mex BIL, and they are great people. They just sent us a photo christmas card of them standing on the beach in summer clothing and barefoot, with Santa Claus. It is 26 degrees here.
It's really just an anti-Texas prejudice thing, probably foolish, and a read dislike of travel...
Oh, yeah - My BIL is a 'Publican, but I love to twit him about GWB being an alcoholic half wit.
Might be fun- supposed to be great food there, too.

Galveston is still not to where it was pre-hurricane, but they're giving it all they got. Houston's a big city, and League City's south of town, so take a few road trips north into the more wooded areas. Some nice drives and day trips to some interesting areas.

12. Go ! And take me with you! |
|
There's someone in Houston that I'd like to see. ;)
I've been to the beach in Galveston, and while it's not Waikiki, it's better than the beaches we have here in PA.
