Edited on Mon Aug-23-10 07:26 PM by Fire1
Prince!! I say, Michael. Not that I don't like Prince. I do! Purple Rain and Diamonds and Pearls are my two favorite. The guy is certainly multi-talented but when it comes down to "showmanship," and entertainment! Michael's got it or had it, hands down.

4. They both have their points
Both great musicians. Michael could dance. Prince could act. I think it's a toss up.

10. My daughter hates it when I point this out...
Michael Jackson can't dance anymore. He's been quiet of late. In fact, even I can dance better than Michael Jackson can. James Brown, also.

MJ WAS a better entertainer, but by default Prince is a better entertainer these days.

16. Very funny. That's why I used PAST tense as well as present.
Even by DEFAULT, Prince is not the better entertainer.

13. Couldn't choose when I cared back in the 80s, still can't choose.
They both had tremendous talents, and it really just depends on which talent you value as to which one you choose. Michael had a better voice and slicker moves and a more natural, personable demeanor. Prince had a more artistic musical sense, was a much better musician, and a dramatic persona that thrilled some and repulsed others. Both put on killer shows.

I always liked Prince better, but I can't really argue that Prince was better. Better at some things, maybe. But not better.

14. Entertainer? Michael Jackson, probably. Musician? Prince. No contest, no question.

See here (especially the part from 3:30 to the end): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifp_SVrlurY

Michael Jackson? Brilliant performer. Prince? Musical genius and total fucking badass. Prince > MJ. Even if he can't dance as well.

not to see somebody prance around on stage without playing any music themselves.

Nevertheless, there can still be a comparison.

22. Prince
Better songwriter, better musician, greater stylistic range, and, and this is probably the only time I can say this, less of a batshit loon.

25. Ooo, that's a tough one.
For pure entertainment, I'd have to go with Jackson.

Although I'd also argue that Prince was more of a creative artist.

27. The correct answer is...
Edited on Tue Aug-24-10 11:45 PM by Bennyboy
Bruce Springsteen. A little bit Cheesey, a lot of real emotion and kick ass music. In the 70's there was nothing at all like the show he put on, Diving off the maps, crowd surfing while playing guitar, sliding across the floor. The funny stories, the skits that were HILARIOUS....Get the DVD from Bbarcelona. NO DOUBT ABOUT IT.

Runner up: Garth Brooks.

30. If we are including dead guys then
Sammy Davis Jr and Louis Armstrong blow em both away.

I like music. Not so much on dance. All MJ had was a high voice and dance moves. Oh, and a fondness for little boys.
