Just talked to a reporter friend in N. Philly |
|
North Philly is predominantly black, and he says it's unbelievable the turnout he's seeing. Interviewing people, there are apparently tons and tons of first time voters who are very motivated to see * out of office and on his ass.
Good news, and on top of the early exit poll #s (which I am taking with a huge grain of salt), it gives good reason to be optimistic about Pennsylvania being a strong win for Kerry.

all drove down to N. Philly today from NY to canvass. I just talked to my mom and she said a very large majority of people had already voted when they asked, and all but 1, I REPEAT 1, had voted for Kerry.
She also said there is huge crowds everywhere...
good signs people!
EDIT:voted for kerry...sorry about the confusion

My African-American staff is SO FIRED UP about voting. There were hour to two-hour waits this morning in N Phila. The ones who haven't voted yet are on their way home to do it right after work. They say there's no way they'll miss it.
The GOTV effort here in Phila has been unprecedented. The city is blanketed, it's like Bush doesn't exist. On every street corner last night, people were waving Kerry signs and cars were honking in solidarity. It's like a festival. I'm so glad I don't live in a red state. Even if the worst happens (NO NO!) at least I had the unmitigated pleasure of watching my gorgeous city unite AS ONE to deliver PA to Kerry!
Go, Johnnie, GO GO GO!!

5. Hah and the Freeper pundits said the African Americans |
|
weren't going to turn out for Kerry.
You bastards united all us Dems by your stolen election and your Jim Crow tactics in 2000.
And no damn way is * going to get 18% of the African American vote!

8. Awesome!! ....On Al Franken today, |
|
he talked to quite a few "embedded reporters" in the polls working for NBC, CBS, and I dunno who else...
None of them would spill the beans on ANYTHING.. :eyes:
Al was saying things to one of the NBC guys like ..."So, if you think there were more voters for Kerry walking out of the polls, just give us some sort of sign - cough, sneeze, anything..
NOTHING. There was dead silence.
Then he asked the same question about Bush voters, and again... dead silence.
When the NBC guy finally said something, it was "I'm sorry Al, the reception was really bad there for a minute.. I haven't heard a word you've said"
Al, his side-kick Katherine, and the NBC embed all just starting laughing their heads off. :7

12. I truly believe minority and new voter youth turnout will be the key |
|
I decided in August to focus on African American GOTV.
I don't care if you stand on the street corner in a long white tshirt, I wanted your vote for Kerry.
