My possible candidate for VP in '08 Kathleen Sebilius of KS |
|
Even TIME magazine this week talks her up (but for President!!) stating: "Democrats need more rural votes, and the centrist Kansas Governor could bring them."
Why not?

1. I'm really feeling strong about a woman somewhere on the ticket. |

If not for 9/11, I really think there would have been a woman on the ticket this year.

just like the cold war. When are we going to open up the parties to people other than white males? For all her faults, Mrs. Thatcher proved that a woman can be just as tough as a man in foreign policy.

The states like Kansas are too far gone. Time just wants us to curl up and die.

Everyone says that Edwards wasn't brought in for NC, yes, I agree winning KS would be a long shot, but she might attract rural votes elsewhere. Did you know that in PA we lost rural counties 2-1 and won narrowly in that state only due to a large turnout in Philly? In Iowa we lost that state narrowly due to Bush's overwhelming advantage in rural areas and small towns.

IIRC, she has strong family ties in Ohio as well.
Personally, over the last two days I've become a big Mark Warner fan.

Doesn't she have ties to another state as well? I vaguely remember that her father was a politician somewhere in the upper midwest.

8. It was hard enough to get a Dem Gov in Kansas, I say leave her there |
|
Governors have a lot of power in shaping the legislature..and in deciding things that can help in the future elections without them running in them :)
