The perverse "luck" of Rove |
|
I'm a night owl and listened to the radio off and on all night. As I sat down with a cup of coffee it occurred to me that what happened in London today is taking the heat of Rove. Again, this administration benefits from a horror. No wonder they act like they're walking under a permanent ray of grace from above.
Surely this has already been discussed but we don't get up so early around this house.

isn't going to be deterred by this. Their work will go on and that of course is the most important element in the Rove story.
I'm not upset at all.
The horror in London deserves media spotlight.

Yes, of course London deserves our attention. That's why KR's luck is perverse. Things seem to happen just when it serves him. And I do have faith in the grand jury.
Peace.

I do not think the grand jury will either be frightened out of its wits to pursue Rove or anyone else on this matter. I also do not believe that because the cameras and microphones have pointed in another direction for the moment that they will waver from their sworn duty to pursue a criminal indictment, if warranted. A grand jury is not a showboat. Neither does it operate at popular sentiment's whim.

I'm just so bummed about what happened in Britain today. It was like a nightmare when the news came on the radio in the wee hours. And I think that Rove doesn't give a crap except that it buys him time away from the spotlight.

I've been saying this repeatedly. Bush and especially Rove are sitting somewhere thinking up spin on a way they can take advantage of the situation.

Yes, I don't think they give a damn except how they can use it politically to advance PNAC. I haven't gotten deep into the pages here at DU for the early morning posts yet. Sorry I missed your postings.

I haven't been posting that much this morning. I've been too busy watching someone to make sure they didn't attempt to steal from me while putting in new windows.
But regardless... the Democrats are obviously dropping the ball again by letting Bush use this to play to his perceived "strength". It's rather sick and twisted when innocent people have to be slaughtered for someone to get a boost in poll numbers. Democrats should do their damnest to frame the debate around the failing policies in Iraq being the cause and put Bush on the defensive.

15. Perish the thought about our Dems all standing together |

If it weren't for Conyers and his truth squad, it wouldn't be worth being a Dem these days.
On a lighter note - nice about your new windows. They make a difference in utility bills.

11. Don't worry about this taking the heat off Rove. |
|
Remember, there's a grand jury and a special prosecutor here. If he's going to be indicted, that will occur whether there are terrorist incidents or not.
This is not something that we need to media to play up. It's already a red-hot story - Miller's in jail, indictments are rumored to be just around the corner for Rove and others.
Keep the faith.

16. Exactly. The grand jury will be working for another 4 months |
|
during which time they will be gathering more evidence and handing down indictments. Practically speaking, there won't be a lot of new facts emerging in the short term since Grand Jury testimony is strictly confidential.
What we'll miss this week as the new terrorist attacks are covered is the "Miller's in jail" and the "when to give up sources" debate. Rove's name does tend to get mentioned during these discussions, as does Bob Novak's.
